Jana Engler Bookkeeping respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal and financial information entrusted to me.
As a registered BAS agent and bookkeeping service, I may collect and hold personal, business and financial information necessary to provide bookkeeping, payroll, BAS and related services.
Information I may collect
Depending on the services I provide to you, this may include your name and contact details, business information, ABN, financial and accounting records, bank transaction information, payroll and employee information, superannuation information, taxation information and other information reasonably required to provide bookkeeping and BAS services.
Where authorised and necessary, this may also include Tax File Number information. TFN information is handled in accordance with applicable taxation laws and the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015.
How I collect your information
Information may be collected directly from you, from your employees or authorised representatives, or through accounting, payroll and business systems to which you have authorised me to have access.
This may include information received by email, telephone, online forms, accounting software, payroll systems, cloud storage or other electronic systems used in providing my services.
How your information is used
I collect, hold and use information for purposes connected with providing my services, including:
• bookkeeping and account reconciliation
• payroll and superannuation processing
• BAS preparation and lodgement
• accounts payable and receivable
• financial and management reporting
• project and grant reporting
• communicating with you and managing our professional relationship
• meeting my professional, legal and regulatory obligations.
Disclosure of information
Client information is treated as confidential.
As a registered BAS agent, I must not disclose information relating to a client’s affairs to a third party without the client’s permission unless I have a legal duty to do so. Tax Practitioners Board
Where necessary to provide agreed services, information may be disclosed to or accessed through third-party service providers such as accounting, payroll, cloud-storage and practice-management software providers, or to government agencies including the Australian Taxation Office where authorised or required.
Storage and security
I take reasonable steps to protect personal and confidential information from misuse, interference, loss and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
Information may be stored electronically using reputable accounting, payroll, cloud and business software providers and, where applicable, in securely maintained records.
Some technology providers may store or process information outside Australia. Where this occurs, I take reasonable steps to ensure information is handled appropriately and in accordance with applicable privacy requirements.
Tax File Numbers
Tax File Numbers and TFN information are only collected, used or disclosed where authorised by law and where necessary for the services being provided.
TFN information is not used as a general form of identification and is handled in accordance with the Privacy (Tax File Number) Rule 2015 and applicable taxation law. OAIC

You may request access to personal information I hold about you or ask for information that is inaccurate or out of date to be corrected.
